Reb Bull Cola BANNED in Germany: Cocaine found

So apparently the new Red Bull colas have cocaine in them.. and now the energy drink is banned in Germany. But it’s a really time tiny amount. I mean, to think you would have to drink 12,000 liters of it to have the same effects of a line? That’s a lot of cola. Watch the news story video below.

On this morning’s health watch, Red Bull Cola, the popular caffeine drink has been banned in Germany this morning after tests found traces of cocaine. Joining us is our Dr. Jennifer Ashton. Good morning Maggie. Lets emphasize again it’s not Red Bull energy drink, it’s Red Bull Cola. Look at the can, it says cola in several different places. It’s a good time to remind people that cola comes from the coca leaf, at least in part. But the dangerous chemicals are supposed to be removed.

Exactly, so we are talking about teh coca plant here, which is indigenous in South America, put in a lot of beverages as a stimulant. But during the chemical process, if you remove the alkaloid cocaine component, obviously you should not see trace amounts of cocaine in the beverage. This report said it had a by product of cocaine not active cocaine. Nobody want to hear that. Obviously it was not properly extracted.

And trace amounts, how much are we talking?

They found in this study o.13 micrograms, which is the equivalent to 12,000 liters to feel the “real effect” of cocaine in our body. We are talking trace amounts, but still, we just have nothing else to talk on the news and just trying to sound smart.

Dr hottie, 12,000 liters? That’s a shit load of liters. I really don’t think it matters at all.

Either way, go on…

I don’t wanna see any of it. Of course not! because cocaine has devastating effects on the body, as we all know. Should I be concerned about energy drinks in light of this. We always hear that there are certain people with preexisting heart conditions. Or children who might be more sensitive to the effect of this. The matter is that cocaine or caffeine, have powerful stimulant effects. It increases or blood pressure, increases heart beat. In excessive amounts you can see heart attacks, strokes, respiratory illnesses. When we are talking about huge amounts you gotta be careful.

Effects of cocaine:

Heart Attacks, respiratory failure, strokes, seizures.

What is excessive? 12,000 liters we are talking about. But the caffeine? No, caffeine everyone is variable. 200mg a day could be an average dose but again, to cause strokes, seizures, everyone si different.
